Brighouse Sawn York Stone Setts are quarried in West Yorkshire and feature the warm buff colouring characteristic of genuine British yorkstone. Unlike concrete or granite setts, they are entirely natural British-quarried stone that weathers and improves with every season.
Yes. York stone setts are among the most durable paving materials available — harder and longer-lasting than concrete alternatives. They have surfaced hard-wearing public spaces across the country for generations, making them an excellent choice for driveways, entrance courts, and busy paths.
Brighouse Sawn Setts are priced per m² or per tonne depending on your order type; the live price is shown on the product page. Free samples are available so you can assess the colour and finish before ordering. Contact us to discuss quantities for larger projects.
Yorkstone setts should be laid on a full mortar bed, not spot-bedded, to prevent rocking and cracking under load. A 5–10mm joint is typical, pointed with a suitable mortar or resin jointing compound. For driveways, a compacted hardcore sub-base of at least 100mm is recommended before the mortar bed.
Brighouse Sawn Setts offer a warmer, more characterful appearance than grey granite setts and are entirely British-quarried natural stone. Granite is marginally harder, but yorkstone setts provide comparable durability for all domestic and commercial applications, with a more sympathetic aesthetic for traditional settings.
