Petworth is one of the more carefully-preserved small towns in the south of England — Petworth House looming over a hillside of antique shops, the narrow lanes of the conservation area, the stone-built character of the town itself. It is a place where new garden work is held to a higher-than-usual standard, because what's already there is rarely less than a couple of hundred years old. Yorkstone, properly chosen, is one of the materials that doesn't disrupt the register.
We supply paving, walling, copings and bespoke cuts across Petworth and the villages threaded along the A272 and A283 — Tillington, Sutton, Lurgashall, Northchapel, Fittleworth, Wisborough Green. The work tends to be heritage-led: reclaimed Yorkstone to match an old front-path stone, aged Greetland for new gardens that want established character without the wait, dressed walling and dry stone walling for the boundary work that's so characteristic of the parishes around the Petworth Estate.
The Cranleigh yard is seventeen miles north-west of Petworth, an easy drive for a sample visit on the same day. We hold riven, sawn, reclaimed and aged finishes in parallel — comparing them in person, against a few sample pieces in afternoon Sussex light, is the simplest way to make a final decision. Bespoke sizes (especially for the irregular thresholds and stair openings common in older Petworth houses) are cut at the yard before delivery to the millimetre.

The Hebden stone has completely transformed our patio area.
A great company to work with for our courtyard garden project. The customer service was fantastic and the Hebden stone has completely transformed our patio area. Speedy delivery and very little breakages — any variations just add to the charm.
Henry's project shows what Hebden does in a contemporary courtyard. — Yorkstone Supplies
