Ilkley is built from the moors above it. The Brigg Royd quarries, the millstone grit cliffs of Cow and Calf, the dry stone walls running across the heather — the same geological sequence that gives Ilkley its character also gives us our paving stone. For an Ilkley garden, Yorkstone isn't an aspirational material; it's the stone the town was built from, and our customers in LS29 are usually choosing it as the natural continuation of their house, not as a design statement.
We supply paving, walling and bespoke cuts across the Wharfedale catchment — Ilkley itself, Ben Rhydding, Burley in Wharfedale, Addingham, Bolton Abbey, Menston, Otley. The work tends towards heritage register: reclaimed Yorkstone for the older stone-built cottages where matching the existing thresholds matters; riven for the Edwardian and inter-war villas along Wells Road and Cowpasture Road; aged Greetland for the new-build extensions and garden rooms where the weathered look is wanted from day one.
Our stone is cut and finished thirty miles south of Ilkley at our Yorkshire stoneyards. LS29 deliveries are typically within the working week and the same free-delivery threshold (£1,500) applies as for our southern customers. Bespoke cuts for steps, copings and threshold work are particularly common in Ilkley projects — the older properties rarely have standard openings.
For sample visits, our Cranleigh showroom is far for Ilkley customers — easier to take samples by post and have the conversation by phone. Quarry visits can be arranged when the project warrants seeing the stone at source.
The Hebden stone has completely transformed our patio area.
A great company to work with for our courtyard garden project. The customer service was fantastic and the Hebden stone has completely transformed our patio area. Speedy delivery and very little breakages — any variations just add to the charm.
Henry's project shows what Hebden does in a contemporary courtyard. — Yorkstone Supplies
