Guildford has been building in stone for nine hundred years. The castle's Norman keep, the cathedral on Stag Hill, the cobbled stretch of the High Street — the town's character is bound up with what it could pull out of the North Downs and what came down from further north. Yorkstone has always been the long-distance favourite for the better houses: durable, dignified, the colour of late-afternoon sun.

We supply paving across Guildford and the GU postcodes regularly — from period townhouses in Charlotteville and Onslow Village wanting reclaimed flags to match the original front-path stone, through to new garden builds in Stoughton, Burpham, Merrow and Worplesdon that lean towards a sawn or aged finish for a cleaner line. Our Cranleigh yard is nine miles south down the A281; on most weeks, an order placed on a Monday is on a Guildford driveway by Wednesday morning.

A recent Guildford project — visible in our Aged Greetland case study — was a back garden in a 1930s house off Epsom Road. The clients wanted the patina of reclaimed without the cost or the laying complications that come with hundred-year-old stone of inconsistent thickness. Our exclusive Aged range is cut to a uniform thickness in Yorkshire, then weathered using an eco-conscious ageing process before it leaves the quarry. Two years on, the patio reads as if it had always been there.

Whether the project is heritage-led, contemporary, or somewhere in between, we'd encourage a sample visit to the Cranleigh showroom first — Yorkstone reads quite differently in afternoon Surrey light than it does in a brochure.

The clients wanted the patina of reclaimed Yorkstone without the laying complications that come with hundred-year-old stone of variable thickness. Our Aged Greetland range — cut uniformly in West Yorkshire, then weathered in the quarry before it leaves — gave them the look on a working budget. Two years on, the patio reads as if it had always been there.

The Hebden stone has completely transformed our patio area.

A great company to work with for our courtyard garden project. The customer service was fantastic and the Hebden stone has completely transformed our patio area. Speedy delivery and very little breakages — any variations just add to the charm.
